Rural Engagement Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY

The Rural Engagement Coordinator will work in partnership with the Associate Director of Community Impact and other departments to advance United Way's engagement with stakeholders in rural communities, including agencies, businesses, donors, and volunteers.

This position works closely with community impact, resource development, operations, and marketing and communications staff and with all UWLC staff and departments; businesses; donors; nonprofit agency partners; community service groups; government agencies. This position is connected to and engaged with peer Local United Ways and United Way Worldwide colleagues for continuous learning, growth and consideration of new ideas.

Work time approximately:

In Office (Springfield): 10%; may include things like board/staff meeting presentations, staff retreats, United Way events, and occasional meetings with other stakeholders
Remote: 40%
County-wide Community Engagement: 50%; will include travel to rural communities throughout Lane County; mileage will be reimbursed

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION

Individuals must be able to perform each essential functions of the job, listed below at a satisfactory level:
• Ground community engagement activities in anti-racism, equity, intersectionality, and other areas important to social justice.
• Sustain, elevate, and nourish the organization's rural engagement efforts across departments
• Support strategies to advance rural agency partners' work, including technical assistance, trainings, programmatic activities, and resource sharing.
• Represent United Way of Lane County at forums, meetings, and other rural community events (e.g. Florence Area Community Coalition, Siuslaw Vision, Be Your Best Cottage Grove).
• Lead formal and informal community engagement efforts in rural communities, in order to regularly refresh our understanding of community challenges and priorities.
• Identify, pursue, and leverage funding opportunities that could bring resources to rural communities in response to community-identified priorities.
• Provide responsive, courteous assistance to internal and external stakeholders.
• Nurture internal department collaboration to ensure integration of a rural lens across all departments, including supporting volunteerism and resource development efforts in rural communities.
• Provide a high degree of accuracy and quality in creating documents, reports, proposals, presentations, and other correspondence.
• Maintain a working knowledge of significant innovations, development
and trends in the field both inside and outside the United Way network.
• Support resource development and fundraising by providing stories of impact to Marketing/Communications, participating in workplace fundraising campaign planning and activities, and assisting with relationship management with current and prospective donors.
• Perform additional duties as assigned and work in other departments as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirements include:
• Must live in one of Lane County's rural communities (outside of Eugene/Springfield)
• At least 2 years' full-time work experience
• Experience in community organizing, rural engagement, nonprofit management, equity advancement, project management, or related area.
• Consistent access to reliable transportation with insurance

SALARY STATEMENT
The budgeted lifespan salary range for this position is currently $17.64 to $22.05 per hour. The targeted salary for this hire is $19.00/hour. Proffered salaries are determined by several factors including applicant's knowledge, skills, experience, position, equity, and market.
This position is eligible for mileage reimbursement, monthly stipend for work related meals, and a generous benefit package including PTO (4-weeks) and employer covered medical, dental, and vision.
