Resource Development Coordinator

Position Description

Title:                     Resource Development Coordinator                                      FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt Grade 2

Reports To:       Vice President of Resource Development

 Position Primary Purpose: To generate and increase resources of United Way of Lane County by leading a portfolio of individual, non-workplace leadership donors; to support individual donor retention and engagement strategies (including recognition, direct mail solicitation, events, and other efforts); and to provide admin and database support.

 Job Functions:

             Fundraising:

  • Work with the Vice President of Resource Development (VP of RD) to help build relationships with current donors, engage new donors, and increase giving of those with capacity.
  • Generate revenue, leading a portfolio of individual, non-workplace donors that represents $100,000+ (increasing annually) through regular meetings and correspondence.
  • Coordinate donor recognition process (letters, thank-a-thon events, board/committee support).

        Events:

  • Coordinate donor events, including annual Leadership Reception and smaller donor gatherings.
  • Work with Marketing & Communications department to support larger United Way events.

       Affinity Group Support:

  • Coordinate the Emerging Leaders (young professional) affinity group by supporting the Emerging Leaders Steering Committee (ELSC).
  • Assist ELSC with monthly programs, including attending programs (typically one evening per month).
  • Manage database/donor tracking efforts and support communications. 

       Administrative Support:

  • Manage direct mail solicitations to workplace and non-workplace donors throughout the year in partnership with the VP of RD, Marketing & Communications Manager, and Database Analyst. 
  • Conduct donor and prospect research. 
  • Maintain accurate database records.
  • Attend United Way and key community functions and events, as appropriate.
  • Provide other administrative support for the Resource Development department as needed.
  • Support grant writing efforts.

 Previous Experience:  Minimum of 2-3 years of successful fundraising or consultative sales experience, project/event management, and customer relations.   

 Demonstrated Abilities: 

  • High-energy individual, who takes initiative, maintains a positive outlook and can embrace change.
  • Reliable, a high level of integrity, and the ability to consistently represent United Way in a professional manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong customer service and listening skills with an ability to relate to a diverse group of individuals.
  • Successful experience managing projects from conception to implementation.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.
  • Proficient computer skills with databases, Excel, Word, etc.
  • A passion for involving and engaging citizens in community life and for working to support UWLC's goals. 
  • Requires a valid driver's license. Travel by car is required.

 Physical

Sitting or standing continuously for periods of four hours, communicate verbally, communicate in writing, faculty of seeing and hearing, operate keyboard. Occasional lifting up to 40 pounds. Occasional bending, squatting, at ground level. Occasional reaching above shoulder level to reach supplies overhead. Continuous use of hands in repetitive tasks such as simple grasping, twisting/turning of wrists; finger dexterity to perform various duties such as data entry, writing. Continuous speaking and hearing for interactions with volunteers and coworkers. Continuous clarity of vision at 20 inches or less for normal daily computer tasks.

 Mental

Interpersonal interactions, problem solving, analyzing and evaluating, decision making, discretion/confidentiality, math skills, teamwork, handling of multiple tasks. Ability to conceptualize and set operational goals and objectives for the department. Frequent use of judgment, reasoning, patience, and negotiating in working with volunteers and coworkers.

 Environmental

Work is performed in an office environment but also requires mobility within the office. May be required to travel to other facilities and various locations for job related training, meetings and events.

Position Status: Full time, Non-Exempt, Grade 2

 

Salary Range: $15 - $17 per hour
