POSITION SUMMARY

The Community Health Impact Coordinator will work in partnership with the Director of Health to support United Way of Lane County (UWLC)/Live Healthy Lane's (LHL) efforts to create a community where all kids are successful in school and life. This position will provide administrative, coordination, and project support to Lane County's Community Health Needs Assessment (CHA) and Community Health Improvement Plan (CHP).

Responsibilities include helping to coordinate the implementation of the CHA/CHP, cultivating and strengthening new and existing relationships with local groups and professional sectors including those in rural Lane County, coordinating UWLC events and trainings including those for LHL, and supporting LHL marketing initiatives. An interest in community health improvement, as well as the ability to support multiple projects simultaneously, maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, and thrive in a fast paced, team and partner-focused environment with complex work are necessary.


A day in the life of the Community Health Impact Coordinator: You'll be spending a lot of time working in the community, talking with people about United Way's work to improve the public's health, engaging in multiple LHL partner meetings, and building relationships that help United Way and LHL stay connected to local public health initiatives. In addition to working in the community, this position will spend time carrying out detailed office work with team members from our community impact and marketing and communications staff. We are looking for someone who is passionate about community health, will champion our work, is comfortable talking one-on-one and in large groups, and has an eye for detail.

This position works closely with community impact and marketing and communications staff and with all UWLC staff and departments; businesses; donors; nonprofit agency partners; community service groups; government agencies. This position is connected to and engaged with peer CHA/CHP initiatives, Local United Ways and United Way Worldwide colleagues for continuous learning, growth and consideration of new ideas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below as a satisfactory level:

  • Ground convening and coordination efforts in anti-racism, systemic oppression, equity, wealth disparity, intersectionality, and other areas important to social justice.
  • Communicate with, build, and maintain excellent rapport with diverse public health partners and community members.
  • Demonstrate deep respect and sensitivity for individuals of all racial and ethnic identities, sexual orientations, gender identities, countries of origin, belief systems, ages, and abilities.
  • Build and maintain authentic, positive relationships with cross-sector partners to facilitate collaboration and coordination of LHL activities.
  • Cultivate and continue community partnerships, bringing voice to community to better understand needs and circumstance and inform CHA/ CHP implementation.

Represent UWLC and LHL at various community meetings that focus on improving the health of our community.

  • Participate in LHL newsletter, website, social media, and print content development, and other marketing activities that help increase the community's understanding and use of the CHA/CHP.
  • Arrange and attend frequent meetings: Coordinate meeting schedules, prepare meeting materials, take meeting minutes, track and follow-up on action items initiated during meetings.
  • Maintain a tracking system for LHL's partnership documents, keeping accurate and complete records.
  • Work with UWLC Marketing and Communications staff to coordinate events and engagement activities, including those hosted by the Lane Equity Coalition.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data to track progress of community improvement efforts.
  • Partner with Resource Development staff to manage a portfolio of workplace fundraising accounts, building on established relationships and content expertise.
  • Engage in cross-departmental UWLC meetings, helping to advance shared efforts to support healthy, successful kids.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirements include:

  • Associate's degree or higher in public health, health promotion/education, health management and policy, social sciences, human services, or related field and at least 1-5 years' full-time experience; OR more than 5 years' experience in public health, marketing and communications, community organizing, equity advancement, project management, or related area.
  • Demonstrated experience in community organizing, meeting facilitation, or working in diverse teams and groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to actively listen to and facilitates diverse input and contributions.
  • Bicultural, Bilingual (Spanish/English) proficiency preferred

SALARY STATEMENT


The budgeted lifespan salary range for this position is currently $18.11 to $22.64 per hour. Proffered salaries are determined by several factors including applicant's knowledge, skills, experience, position, equity, and market.
