Graphic Design and Marketing Specialist III

Position Primary Purpose: The Graphic Design and Marketing Specialist creates and maintains compelling design collateral and written content that effectively communicates and engages the community in United Way of Lane County's work ensuring children are successful in school and life. Understands marketing fundamentals, collaborates effectively with many teams, and successfully manages multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

 

Primary Functions:

  • Work collaboratively across all United Way departments to create and support a consistent brand experience, compelling design and written content, utilizing multiple marketing platforms and reaching various audiences.
  • Conceptualize, design, write copy for and produce print and digital collateral for various communications, departments, events, and donor engagements, including social media and web graphics, invitations, ads, flyers, brochures, and other assets as needed
  • Develop and implement organization-wide social media strategy that actively engages the community
  • Write compelling copy for monthly enewsletters and blog posts.
  • Assist with marketing campaign strategy and execution.

Track and analyze digital marketing activities, as well as track budgets and invoices.

  • Manage relationship with print vendors and digital marketing platforms.
  • Support photography/video creation to align with creative direction
  • Support website design and ongoing content updates.
  • Utilize and demonstrate knowledge of current trends in color, technology, communication and experience to develop unique design solutions.
  • Serve on departmental and cross-functional committees in support of the organization's mission and goals.
  • Provide project support to other departments and teams periodically, building depth of knowledge to inform marketing and communications content development.
  • Represent United Way of Lane County at community events.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Previous Experience:

  • One to three years of previous experience in Graphic Design, and Marketing/Communications or Journalism.

 

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

 

Demonstrated Abilities:      

  • Excellent written communication and graphic design skills.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office.
  • Knowledge and understanding of marketing principles.
  • Self-starter with ability to take initiative and manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience managing social media platforms in professional settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to write compelling copy.
  • Experience with content management systems and web design.
  • Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Active commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience with videography/photography is a plus.

 

Physical:

  • Sitting or standing continuously for periods of four hours, communicate verbally and in writing, faculty of seeing and hearing, operate keyboard.
  • Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds. Occasional bending, squatting, at ground level. Occasional reaching above shoulder level to reach supplies overhead.
  • Continuous use of hands in repetitive tasks such as simple grasping, twisting/turning of wrists; finger dexterity to perform various duties such as data entry, writing, maintenance of office machines and maintenance of founds and facility.
  • Continuous speaking and hearing for interactions with volunteers and coworkers.
  • Continuous clarity of vision at 20 inches or less for normal daily computer tasks.

 

Mental:

Interpersonal interactions, problem solving, analyzing/evaluating, decision making, discretion/confidentiality, math skills, teamwork, creativity and task handling. Frequent use of judgment, reasoning, patience, and negotiating in working with volunteers and coworkers.

 

Environmental:

Work is performed in an office environment but also requires mobility within the office. May be required to travel to other facilities and various locations for job related training, meetings and events.
