Donors Relation Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY

The Donor Relations Coordinator will generate and increase resources of United Way of Lane County by leading a portfolio of individual and non-workplace leadership donors; to support individual donor retention and engagement strategies (including recognition, direct mail solicitation, events, and other efforts); and to provide admin and database support.

A day in the life of the Donor Relations Coordinator: You'll be spending a lot of your time with detailed office work in partnership with team members from our finance and operations department to maintain donor communications and keep our database up to date. You will also spend time out in the community, talking to people about United Way's work, participating in professional networking and community groups, and building relationships that help United Way grow and diversify its donor base. We're looking for someone who can be an authentic spokesperson and champion for our work, comfortable talking both one on one and in large groups, and who also has an eye for detail and a strong penchant for data and relationship management.

This position works closely with resource development, operations, impact and marketing and communications staff and with all UWLC staff and departments; nonprofit agency partners; donors, community service groups; businesses; government agencies. This position is connected to and engaged with peer Local United Ways and United Way Worldwide colleagues for continuous learning, growth and consideration of new ideas. Approximately 25% of time is directly connected to marketing and communications; 75% of time is resource development. This position is a key part of the overall success of fundraising, donor cultivation, and engagement efforts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below at a satisfactory level:

  • Ground fundraising efforts in anti-racism, systemic oppression, equity, wealth disparity, intersectionality, and other areas important to social justice.
  • Build relationships with current donors, engage new, diverse donors, and increase giving of those with capacity.
  • Help develop and implement engagement, cultivation, stewardship, and fundraising strategies and tactics to enhance and grow revenue, among current and prospective donors.
  • Diversify UWLC donors through research and cultivation of diverse donors and fundraising prospects.
  • Generate revenue, leading a portfolio of donors through regular meetings and correspondence.
  • Use systems, administrative support and processes to help create opportunities for donors to further their understanding of the complexity of this work.
  • Approach fundraising efforts as holistic, relational and transformative, not transactional.
  • Generously share resources, ideas, and promising practices in fundraising and other areas with nonprofit partners and colleagues.
  • Authentically partner with our community members when asking them to be involved in fundraising efforts.
  • Contribute to a culture of philanthropy, accountability, and joy in fundraising.
  • Help guide and support affinity groups, including support for the Racial Justice Fund and Emerging Leaders.
  • Coordinate donor and partner recognition process.
  • Work with Marketing & Communications department to support larger United Way events and engagement activities.
  • Manage database/donor tracking efforts and support communications. Work collaboratively with operations and finance teams to provide efficient data management and serve as point person for resource development staff.
  • Coordinate year-round outreach and solicitations to donors in partnership with the Director of Individual Giving, Director of Annual Giving, Marketing & Communications Manager, and Database Analyst.
  • Maintain accurate database records.
  • Attend United Way and key community functions and events, as appropriate.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirements include:

  • Bachelor's Degree/equivalent relevant work experience and minimum 1 year of successful fundraising or consultative sales experience, project/event management, and customer relations.
  • Bicultural, multicultural preferred
  • Bilingual preferred, particularly Spanish/English proficiency
  • Valid Oregon driver's license with an ability to transport self to work related events, meetings, and networking opportunities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, public speaking experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office including Outlook, Teams, and Excel preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a collaborative team environment.

SALARY STATEMENT

The budgeted lifespan salary range for this position is currently $18.11 to $22.64 per hour. Proffered salaries are determined by several factors including applicant's knowledge, ­­­skills, experience, position, equity, and market.
