POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Annual Giving will guide, strategize, develop and implement workplace and community giving goals and year-round activities, and generate and increase resources for United Way of Lane County (UWLC) by leading a diverse and inclusive portfolio of accounts for annual workplace and community giving efforts; provide professional leadership and support to resource development volunteers and staff; establish and grow strong relationships with the employees, individuals, business owners, and executives at current and future partner organizations. This position works closely with resource development, operations and marketing and communications staff and with all UWLC staff and departments; nonprofit agency partners; donors, community service groups; businesses; government agencies. This position is connected to and engaged with peer Local United Ways and United Way Worldwide colleagues for continuous learning, growth and consideration of new ideas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below at a satisfactory level:

  • Develop annual and multi-year workplace fundraising plans that address UWLC's multi-year budget and projections and complement individual giving strategies.
  • Significantly increase revenue through workplace giving, corporate and business giving and corporate sponsorships and grants.
  • Oversee the review and analysis of past workplace giving; research, test and implement new campaign techniques and materials to meet changing markets, technology and newly developing company cultures.
  • Ensure systems are in place to effectively monitor and track revenue generation; provide meaningful reports and projection updates to all constituents.
  • Lead the planning, coordination and oversight of accounts' annual UWLC fundraising campaigns by maintaining and expanding close, positive, effective relationships (e.g., regular meetings with business leaders) and providing key management and support to accounts (in assigned portfolio) throughout the year, with a focus on increasing diversity and inclusive participation.
  • Research contacts and prospects, maintain communications, and record information in the database.
  • Ensure recognition of donors and supporters through timely acknowledgement and thanks, annual recognition efforts, in collaboration with Marketing and Systems.
  • Complete funding applications for corporate and corporate foundation grants.
  • Responsible for new account development to help generate increased revenue, and to diversify donor participation.
  • Regularly attend UWLC and key community functions/events identifying engagement opportunities to strengthen relationships with current portfolio of accounts as well as support new account development.
  • Develop, cultivate and manage current and future resource development volunteer leadership and engagement opportunities, working directly to identify and recruit key diverse volunteers.
  • Maximize commitment and involvement of all fundraising volunteers and ensure they are provided with quality training and support in organizing and developing successful campaign strategies.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive customer relationship management (CRM) plan.
  • Cultivate and collaborate on relationship management responsibilities throughout the organization.
  • Network and develop relationships with the corporate, public sector, philanthropic and volunteer communities.
  • Coach, guide and develop the fundraising team.
  • Design and implement training for fundraising associates who support year round fundraising efforts.
  • Build and maintain a high performance, high morale environment.
  • Identify opportunities to utilize technology tools; e-pledge, mobile cause and others to provide efficiency within workplace and annual campaigns.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirements include:

  • Bachelor's Degree/equivalent relevant work experience and minimum 4 to 6 years of successful, progressively responsible resource generation in the nonprofit sector, including experience in workplace, annual, and individual resource development.
  • Minimum 5 years of successful supervisory experience.

SALARY STATEMENT

The budgeted lifespan salary range for this position is currently $60,900 to $76,125 per year. The targeted salary for this hire is $60,900. Proffered salaries are determined by several factors including applicant's knowledge, skills, experience, position, equity, and market.
