POSITION SUMMARY

The Chief Experience Officer is responsible for creating, leading, communicating, executing and sustaining UWLC's annual planning, resource development, personnel, marketing and communications, driving excellent customer and staff experiences in ongoing alignment of organizational goals and objectives. This position regularly collaborates closely with the President/CEO, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Strategy Officer, Board of Directors, Leadership Team, and works with all UWLC staff and departments; nonprofit agency partners; donors, community service groups; businesses; government agencies. This position is connected and engaged with peer Local United Ways and United Way Worldwide colleagues for continuous learning, growth and consideration of new ideas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below at a satisfactory level:

  • Participate as a member of the Executive and Leadership Teams to provide a united, visible, and strong leadership presence across the organization.
  • Strengthen and build an agile and results-oriented Resource Development Team.
  • Evaluate donor experience and design, implement, and continually improve a resource development model based on researched best practices. Lead the team to success in taking its innovations to market in a timely and scalable way.
  • Lead innovation and data-driven giving solutions, as well as guide for increased diversity, equity, and inclusive giving, positioning United Way as a visionary market leader by donors, philanthropic organizations, media, and community.
  • Create, integrate and adapt technological platforms and strategies to improve the donor experience.
  • Drive new growth opportunities. Identify, prioritize, develop, and launch new products, services and business models that elevate the donor and volunteer experience.
  • Ensure fund raising efforts support the UWLC community impact model and revenue goals.
  • Ensure that the Customer Relationship Management System (CRM) is consistently and accurately used to provide a comprehensive view of existing and potential donors. Use the data to inform strategies. Ensure information about needs, interests, expectations of these individuals and organizations is used to enrich relationships.
  • Ensure that donor segmentation models are in place and used to inform fundraising plans. Ensure that prospective donors and partners are measured against those models and that resource development time and effort is allocated toward those segments most critical to achieving the results of building a well-balanced donor portfolio and roadmap that drives giving and donation growth.
  • Provide strategic leadership for volunteer committees associated with resource development activities.
  • Work to maintain and expand close, positive, effective relationships and provide key management and support to accounts (in assigned portfolio) throughout the year, with a focus on increasing diversity and inclusive participation.
  • Promote cross functional collaboration as a component of operationalizing the strategic plan and annual goals.
  • Ensure relationship-based development practices, intended to ensure an exceptional donor experience are in place and attract and sustain both financial and non-financial resources.
  • Lead the strategic priorities of Planned Giving. Lead the team to build annual plans that support overall revenue goals. Ensure policies and procedures are followed.
  • Lead the Marketing and Communications Team to ensure systems and processes are in place for successful planning, execution, and evaluation of revenue generating events. Ensure documentation of such processes.
  • Lead the Human Resources and personnel team with a strong lens of equity, inclusion, diversity, and belonging.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirements include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, public policy, nonprofit management or related field plus ten years of increasingly responsible work in a relevant field, or a Master's Degree and five years of experience or a comparable combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of successful supervisory experience.

SALARY STATEMENT

The budgeted lifespan salary range for this position is currently $74,257 to $92,822 per year. The targeted salary for this hire is $75,000. Proffered salaries are determined by several factors including applicant's knowledge, skills, experience, position, equity, and market.

Engages, listens, and understands community aspirations. Establishes credibility as a leader on critical issues and solutions affecting the community.
