Looking for a dynamic Marketing Manager to champion the work of the United Way of Lane County!

Position Primary Purpose: Responsible for the planning and execution of strategic marketing, communications, brand management, and media relations for UWLC. Consulting with and incorporating input from key stakeholders, the Marketing Manager analyzes, prepares and executes a comprehensive year-round donor and stakeholder marketing and communications plan that differentiates the United Way brand, builds relationships with key audiences, and positions United Way as a community impact organization. Leads the effort to ensure a consistent brand experience that is aligned with the community impact model and UWLC's mission and vision.


Brand Marketing

  • Responsible for the consistent brand-aligned presentation of the organization, both internally and externally.
  • Manage the execution of an integrated Brand Management Plan, including: analyzing and preparing an overall brand strategy, market research on brand awareness, year-round brand communication, social media, and community outreach strategies.
  • Implement a marketing plan that supports achievement of United Way of Lane County's Strategic Plan and maintains the integrity of the United Way brand image.
  • Manage organizational community visibility by developing relationships with media and managing the production and distribution of news releases.
  • Understand, integrate and implement consumer segmentation strategies into strategic marketing plans.
  • Manage direct giving fundraising (email marketing, internet giving and mobile giving).
  • Oversee and help develop all organizational materials, videos, etc. to ensure consistent message delivery and brand presentation.
  • Manage graphic design processes.
  • Oversee event planning for brand engagement events throughout the year.
  • Actively participate and contribute marketing expertise in cross-departmental teams that drive our core mission work.



  • Manage the development and implementation of UWLC's strategic communications plans.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive, productive relationships with key partners and stakeholders.
  • Create messaging strategy and key messages for the organization.
  • Train internal staff and volunteers on organizational messaging.
  • Serve as a primary media contact.



  • Staff the volunteer marketing and communications committee in support of brand development and marketing/communications planning.
  • Track marketing budget and resources.
  • Manage relationships with outside vendors.
  • Supervise assigned staff.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Previous Experience

Minimum of 3 years experience in areas noted below



BA degree and/or a minimum of three years of progressive, successful experience in marketing, branding and communications.

Experience with broadcast, print and social media advertising communications.

Excellent skills in writing, editing, graphics printing, budget planning, and monitoring of expenditures.

Knowledge of computer marketing/communications software and applications.

Proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships and good customer service to the general public, volunteers, staff, non-profit partners, donors, media.



Sitting or standing continuously for periods of four hours, communicate verbally, communicate in writing, faculty of seeing and hearing, operate keyboard. Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.  Occasional bending, squatting, at ground level.  Occasional reaching above shoulder level to reach supplies overhead.  Continuous use of hands in repetitive tasks such as simple grasping, twisting/turning of wrists; finger dexterity to perform various duties such as data entry, writing,.  Continuous speaking and hearing for interactions with volunteers and coworkers.  Continuous clarity of vision at 20 inches or less for normal daily computer tasks. 



Interpersonal interactions, problem solving, analyzing and evaluating, decision making, discretion/confidentiality, math skills, teamwork, handling of multiple tasks. Ability to conceptualize and set operational goals and objectives for the department. Frequent use of judgment, reasoning, patience, and negotiating in working with volunteers and coworkers.



Work is performed in an office environment but also requires mobility within the office.  May be required to travel to other facilities and various locations for job related training, meetings and events.

Salary Range:  $17 to $20 an hour depending on experience
